Ferry to Phu Quoc 2026 — Schedule, Prices & Bike Transport

Three ports on the mainland connect to Phu Quoc by sea: Rach Gia, Ha Tien, and (for cars and trucks only) Hon Chong. Two operators dominate the passenger fast-ferry market — Superdong and Phu Quoc Express. After taking each route at least four times, here is the honest breakdown.

The two routes that matter

Rach Gia → Phu Quoc (Bai Vong port)

Ha Tien → Phu Quoc (Bai Vong port)

Which port to choose

If you are coming from Saigon, take a sleeper bus to Ha Tien (8 hours, 250,000 VND) and the short ferry. If you are doing a Mekong Delta loop and already in Can Tho, Rach Gia is the natural choice. If you have a strong stomach and want the cheapest experience, the slow car ferry from Ha Tien (3.5 hours, 200,000 VND with a motorbike) is unbeatable.

Bringing your own motorbike

Only the slow car ferries (Thanh Thoi from Ha Tien, Phu Quoc Express vehicle service from Rach Gia) accept motorbikes. Fast catamarans do not. Process:

  1. Arrive 90 minutes before departure with your bike registration (xe máy cà vẹt).
  2. Pay the per-bike fee at a separate cargo window: 200,000 VND for a 110cc scooter, up to 500,000 VND for a 250cc+ motorcycle.
  3. Push (do not ride) your bike onto the lower car deck. Crew will tie it down.
  4. Empty the fuel tank to under one quarter — required by harbor regulation.
  5. Carry your helmet and any valuables to the passenger deck. Lockers do not exist.

Honest take: unless you have a sentimental attachment to your bike or are doing a multi-month Vietnam trip, do not bother. Renting a fresh, well-serviced bike from us at the airport costs less than the ferry transport fee plus the hours saved.

Arriving at Bai Vong

Bai Vong port is on the eastern coast of Phu Quoc, about 30 km (45 minutes) from Duong Dong town and the airport. Taxis to Duong Dong cost 350,000–400,000 VND (negotiate). Grab and Be apps work but with limited drivers — wait can be 20+ minutes. The cheapest option is one of the shared xe ôm motorbike taxis lining the exit (60,000–80,000 VND solo to Duong Dong, but you and your luggage on the back of a stranger's scooter).

The smarter option: pre-book a GoBike rental with delivery to Bai Vong port. We meet you at the gate, do the 5-minute paperwork, and you ride to your hotel on your own bike. Free delivery same as airport service.

Cancellations and refunds

Tickets are non-refundable but transferable to another date if rebooked at the office at least 2 hours before departure. If the operator cancels for weather, you get a full refund or free re-booking. Always book through the official Superdong or Phu Quoc Express websites or the port office — third-party booking sites add 30–50% markup and slow refund processing.
