The Perfect 3-Day Phu Quoc Itinerary by Motorbike
By Alex Nguyen · Updated May 2026 · 7 min read
Three days is the sweet spot for a first visit to Phu Quoc — enough to cover the famous south, the wild north and a relaxed town day, without rushing. This itinerary is built around having your own motorbike, which lets you move on your own schedule and reach beaches the tours skip. Base yourself in Duong Dong or on Long Beach and you are central to all of it.
Day 1 — The South: cable car & Sao Beach (~50 km)
Head south in the morning to An Thoi and ride the Hon Thom cable car — the world's longest over-sea cable car, with stunning views over the An Thoi archipelago. Afterwards, cool off at Sao Beach, the island's most famous white-sand bay. Loop back via Sunset Town for dinner and the evening light. An easy, scenic day on good roads.
Day 2 — The North: jungle, pepper & Starfish Beach (~90 km)
A bigger day. Ride north past Ong Lang Beach, stop at a pepper farm and (if you like) Vinpearl Safari, then continue to the fishing village of Ganh Dau and the shallow, clear water of Starfish Beach at the island's northern tip. Fuel up before you go — stations thin out in the north. This is the full island-loop experience; see our detailed route maps.
Day 3 — Town & beach: take it slow
Spend the morning around Duong Dong — the local market, the Dinh Cau temple and rock, and a coffee in town. In the afternoon relax on Long Beach, then finish at the Night Market for seafood. Short rides, plenty of downtime — the perfect wind-down before you fly out.
Tips for the ride
- Start early to beat the midday heat and have beaches to yourself.
- Carry an International Driving Permit and always wear your helmet.
- Keep the tank topped up, especially before the northern day.
- Not sure which bike? The easy Honda Vision suits this itinerary; compare Vision vs AirBlade for two-up days.
